June–August 2026
This summer, The L1 Foundation continued its mission of "Building A Stronger Community” through mentorship, health and wellness, youth development, community outreach, and meaningful partnerships throughout Houston.
From creating safe spaces for young men to supporting families preparing for a new school year, June, July, and August reflected what happens when community organizations, volunteers, businesses, and supporters come together with a shared purpose.
June 2026 | Mentorship, Men’s Health & Connection
June placed a strong focus on the health, development, and well-being of men and young men in our community.
Pivot to Connect Summer Mentoring Program
The L1 Foundation launched Pivot to Connect, a summer mentorship experience designed to create a positive and supportive environment for young men. Led by The Pivot Coach, Theo, participants engaged in conversations and activities centered around leadership, accountability, personal development, healthy decision-making, confidence, and building meaningful connections.
More than a summer program, Pivot to Connect was created to give young men access to positive male role models and a space where they could learn, grow, and be heard. The summer program also provided a foundation for The L1 Foundation's vision of expanding Pivot to Connect into Houston-area middle and high schools.

Men’s Health Week: “You Good Bro?”
From June 15–20, The L1 Foundation recognized Men’s Health Week with the 2026 theme, “You Good Bro?”
Throughout the week, programming encouraged men to prioritize their physical, mental, and emotional wellness while normalizing conversations around health. The initiative reached more than 150 men throughout the community.

Real Men Real Yoga
Our commitment to men's wellness also continued through Real Men Real Yoga, a monthly initiative presented in partnership with the African American Male Wellness Agency. The program creates an intentional space for men to experience the physical and mental benefits of yoga while promoting stress management, mobility, mindfulness, and community connection.

July 2026 | Building Relationships & Strengthening Community
July continued the momentum of the summer with mentorship, wellness, and community collaboration.
Pivot to Connect Continues
Throughout July, Pivot to Connect participants continued developing relationships with mentors and one another through interactive sessions focused on real-life experiences and personal growth.
The program reinforced an important part of The L1 Foundation's approach to youth development: young people thrive when they have consistent support, meaningful relationships, and adults willing to invest in their future.
Preparing to Give Back
July was also a month of preparation and partnership as The L1 Foundation worked alongside community partners and supporters to prepare families for the upcoming school year.
Those efforts set the stage for our August Back-to-School Uniform Drive and strengthened relationships with schools and organizations serving Houston families.
August 2026 | Back to School & Celebrating a Summer of Growth
August marked both the conclusion of our summer mentorship programming and the beginning of another school year.
Back-to-School Uniform Drive
Through the combined efforts of The L1 Foundation, Level One Fitness, and TLN Family & Cosmetic Dentistry, our Back-to-School Uniform Drive helped provide essential support to families at:
Bastian Elementary
Blackshear Elementary
Whidby Elementary
Together, the initiative served 235 families, helping students begin the school year prepared and confident.
A special thank you goes to Dr. Karderro Dixon for his leadership of this initiative and to every donor, volunteer, partner, and supporter who helped make the outreach possible.

Pivot to Connect Summer Finale
August also brought the final summer session of Pivot to Connect.
We celebrated the participants who committed their time to the program, the parents and families who trusted us with their young men, the volunteers and supporters who invested in the vision, and The Pivot Coach for his leadership throughout the summer.
Although the summer sessions have concluded, this is only the beginning for Pivot to Connect. The relationships built, lessons shared, and conversations started will continue to influence the future direction of the program.

Three Months. One Mission.
June, July, and August demonstrated the reach of The L1 Foundation's five core pillars:
Health & Wellness • Mentorship & Youth Development • Outreach & Community Engagement • Recreational Activities & Events • Cultural Enrichment & Education
Whether we are helping a young man discover his potential, encouraging men to prioritize their wellness, creating opportunities for families to access resources, or bringing people together through community initiatives, every program connects back to one mission:
Building “A Stronger Community.”
We extend our sincere appreciation to our participants, parents, volunteers, board members, donors, community partners, small businesses, instructors, and supporters who helped make this summer possible.
The summer may be ending, but the work continues.

"Building “A Stronger Community”
